Cooking instructions and recipes

The following cooking instructions are for our frozen Good Wheat Burgers and Wheat Ground.
Use our ground in any recipe that calls for ground beef, chicken or turkey!

Our product should be completely defrosted before cooking. Defrost product overnight in the refrigerator completely wrapped in its container OR defrost at room temperature using large ZIP Lock bags. (Always protect product from moisture loss.)

A Frozen Good Burger

Grill/Stove Top
Lightly oil hot surface, cook for 2 minutes on each side

Barbeque/Open Flame
Lightly brush with oil, cook 90 seconds on each side.

Oven/Toaster Oven
If desired, lightly brush with oil, cook 4-6 minutes turning once in a 425
° F oven.

  Frozen Wheat Ground

Thaw completely.

Thaw and add to soups, chili, casseroles, pasta sauce, lasagna.

Thaw, brown on parchment paper on  baking tray in convection oven  (400° for 8-10 minutes) before using in tacos or similar recipes.

KMF Shepard's Pie

1 pound Knox Mountain WheatGround
1 can whole kernel corn
3 1/2 cups mashed potatoes

- Brown 1" layer of WheatGround (seasoned with salt & pepper to taste) at 425° for
  8 minutes
- Add a 1" layer of corn topped off with a 2" layer of mashed potatoes
- Bake at 375° until browned

KMF Sloppy Joe

1 tbs yellow mustard

1/4 cup light brown sugar

1 1/2 tsp Tabasco sauce

2 tbs chili powder

1 1/2 tsp ground black pepper

2 tbs Worcestershire sauce

1 cup tomato puree

1 cup tomatoes diced in juice

1 cup tomato sauce

1 1/4 lbs KMF WheatGround

1 cup chopped onions

1/2 cup diced green peppers

8 hamburger buns

- Sauté veggies and KMF WheatGround until cooked thoroughly
- Add all other ingredients and allow 10 minutes to simmer
- Add to the bun and you're all done

KMF Basic Meatloaf

1 1/2 lbs KMF WheatGround

3/4 cup chopped onions

1/2 cup bread crumbs

1 large egg

2 tbs ketchup

1/4 cup vegetarian broth

1/8 tsp paprika

salt and pepper to taste

 

- Mix together KMF WheatGround, onion, bread crumbs, beaten egg, ketchup, broth
  and seasoning
- Press mixture into loaf pan
- Spread about 2 tbs ketchup or chili sauce evenly over top of loaf
- Bake at 350° for 20 minutes. Let loaf stand for 10 minutes before serving.

Tex Mex Chili

4 lbs KMF WheatGround

4 chopped onions

8 crushed garlic cloves

2 tsp sale

1 tsp black pepper

6 tsp chili powder

1 teaspoon cayenne

64 oz. stewed red ripe tomatoes

 

32 oz. kidney beans, canned

4 chopped green peppers

1/4 cup olive oil

- In a large pot, sauté all ingredients except kidney beans, peppers and olive oil,
  for 6 minutes
- Add remaining ingredients, cover and simmer for 30 minutes
